We're looking for a highly skilled Naval Architect / Designer III to join our team in the marine industry. In this role, you will be a key contributor to our rapid and iterative development process, taking ownership of vessel designs from initial concept through to final manufacturing and assembly. You'll be responsible for ensuring our designs are not only innovative but also meet stringent safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Analysis: Develop vessel designs from concept to manufacturing and assembly. Conduct thorough due diligence analysis on all designs, including:n
      n
    • Requirements Review: Ensure designs meet human-rating requirements, regulatory compliance, and user interface standards.
    • n
    • Engineering Calculations: Perform calculations for weight, buoyancy, stability, resistance, and powering requirements to validate design performance.
    • n
    • Manufacturing & Assembly: Optimize designs for efficient manufacturing and seamless assembly.
    • n
    • Product Finish: Ensure the final product meets high-quality finish standards.
    • n
    n
  • n
  • Project Ownership: Take full ownership of the product delivery timeline, from the initial conception and design phases through to integration, launch, and recovery.
  • n
  • Technical Excellence: Demonstrate a high level of technical expertise and accountability for all work performed.

Basic Qualifications:

n
    n
  • Education: four-year degree from an accredited college or university in a Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture discipline.
  • n
  • Experience: minimum of 4 years of professional experience in naval architecture design.
  • n
  • Specific Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in small craft or ship design. experience is accepted and counts toward this requirement.
  • n
  • Project Leadership: Practical, hands-on project experience, preferably as a team or sub-system team lead.
  • n
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • n
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work long hours and weekends as needed.
  • n
  • Travel: Ability to travel as required.

Qualifications:

  • Teamwork: The ability to thrive in an integrated, fast-paced, and dynamic collaborative team environment.
  • n
  • Hands-on Experience: A passion for hands-on work, including vessel construction, operation and maintenance. Experience with composite lamination and assembly is a plus.
  • n
  • Successful completion of the Naval Architecture Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) portion of the Professional Engineering credentials is desired.
  • n
  • Composite Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of the unique design challenges associated with composite structures.
  • n
  • CAD Software: Proven experience with marine CAD software packages such as Rhino and Autocad, Siemens NX a plus.
  • n
  • Productivity Software: Experience with Office 365 (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
  • n
  • Hydrostatics analysis: Experience with common hydrostatics software packages such as ORCA3D, GHS or MAXSURF. Candidate should have familiarity with stability requirements of USN, USCG, ISO, IMO and other standards applicable to high-speed craft.
  • n
  • Computational fluid dynamics: Although not a requirement, some experience with computational fluid dynamics software packages such as MarineCFD/Simerics, Star CCM or Fine/Marine is a plus.
