Overview

NBCNews is seeking a dynamic and accomplished Senior Broadcast Producer to join Top Story with Tom Llamas. This is a unique opportunity for a proven newsroom leader to help shape a program that bridges traditional television and the future of streaming news.

The Senior Broadcast Producer will collaborate closely with the Executive Producer, anchor, and senior newsroom leadership to drive ambitious coverage, oversee live control room production, and deliver compelling hard news and feature segments to a streaming audience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage production teams—including producers, associate producers, and correspondents—from story development through execution on air
  • Launch the morning with an early build of the rundown, pitch and develop story ideas throughout the day
  • Write key elements of the program
  • Copy edit show scripts and packages
  • Lead editorial meetings, evaluate pitches, and generate original stories with strong impact and broad reach
  • Manage the control room during live broadcasts, especially during high-pressure breaking news events
  • Serve as fill-in Executive Producer, as needed
  • Coordinate day-of coverage and manage the futures process to ensure strong forward planning
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance across the newsroom
  • Supervise and develop direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, creativity, and excellence

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of editorial experience at the network or cable news level
  • Minimum of 3 years newsroom management experience
  • Ability to lead a control room during regular programming and breaking news
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Strong journalistic writing, research, editorial judgment, and control room management skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and passion for news and current events
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours under tight deadline pressure, including during breaking news
  • Must be willing and able to work five days a week in office at 30 Rock in New York City

  • Field producing or reporting experience a plus
  • Familiarity with NBC News standards, policies, and practices
  • Fluency with social media and emerging digital platforms, with an eye toward innovation in storytelling
  • Self-starter with a deep passion for impactful journalism and the future of news

Additional Requirements

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Salary and Benefits

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $170,000 - $250,000
