You will own your assigned products during the development cycle to ensure delivery of current evidence‑based content on time, on spec, on scope, and on budget. Collaboration is essential, with internal partners (Editorial Operations, Acquisition Editors, Product Managers, Marketing, and Sales) and external partners (vendors, authors, subject matter experts) to produce content that delights customers.

Key Tasks:

  • Manage the product development cycle in collaboration with the Editorial Operations team or Product Manager for all assigned projects, including textbooks, digital assets, videos, and ancillaries
  • Collaborate with the Acquisition Editor and Marketing Manager in product planning and evaluation, formulate market surveys and focus group outcomes, and gather customer insight to assess alignment with the portfolio and opportunities for collaboration
  • Work with subject matter experts, authors, vendors, and in‑house staff to develop core content suitable for multiple platforms and audiences
  • Communicate with customers through surveys, focus groups, or other planned activities to understand needs, learning environment, and market trends
  • Provide written analysis of customer feedback and competitive products to support customer problem solving and market share growth
  • Assist Acquisition Editors in understanding market segments, including competitive landscape, market trends, and demographics
  • Inform and articulate Acquisition Editors’ vision and plan for product development
  • Help define deliverables and scope of products, including related resources, informed by market feedback and competition
  • Analyze proposals and sample content to determine market viability and assess the ability of SMEs and authors to create/revise content per project plan
  • Create a comprehensive project budget and coordinate with the Editorial Operations team to establish a schedule
  • Manage content and media development via vendors, SMEs, and freelancers ensuring deliverables meet on‑spec, on‑time, and on‑budget requirements
  • Demonstrate development editing capabilities by analyzing author/SME presentation and providing direction on coverage, organization, pedagogy, illustrations, and writing style
  • Work with Editorial Assistants to commission reviews of content and features; evaluate customer feedback to ensure the product meets market needs
  • Alert Acquisition Editors and Marketing to new opportunities from customer interactions; refine project scope as needed
  • Track project status, schedule, and budget in consultation with the Editorial Coordinator and assist in management reports
  • Problem‑solve quality/content or scope issues and coordinate with the Editorial Operations team to resolve schedule, budget, and vendor/SME issues
  • Assist Marketing with sales inquiries when appropriate
  • Manage customer escalations from Online Product (Technical) Support
