FT Senior Assistant Technical Services - Library
Title: Senior Library Assistant - Technical Services (35hrs/wk)
Supervisor: Technical Services Librarian
Grade: Senior Library Assistant
Union: Library
Summary:
The Senior Library Assistant (Technical Services) works under the general supervision of the Head of the Technical Services Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following; other duties may be assigned.
- Places orders for new books and library materials.
- Uses Evergreen ILS Cataloging, Acquisition, and Circulation modules.
- Checks in shipments of new books.
- Manages invoices in the Evergreen Acquisitions module
- Processes and inputs new books and a wide variety of library materials, following the library’s standards.
- Creates labels and bookplates using Microsoft Word or similar software.
- Assists with tracking and ordering supplies for the department.
- Processes withdrawn materials.
- Mends and cleans books and other library materials as needed.
- Performs circulation and children's room desk duties. Assists patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other staff members.
- Communicates effectively with the public.
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree

The employee must lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The employee frequently is required to perform repetitive hand, arm and body movements, including lifting books on a continuous basis for hours at a time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.
