JOB OVERVIEW
The Multimedia Specialist supports the production of digital content by capturing and editing video and audio materials according to predefined project specifications. This role is primarily technical in nature and includes operating drones for aerial footage, following creative direction provided by senior staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The position does the following in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws / regulations and the Company’s policies, procedures and guidelines:
- Develop original concepts for multimedia projects.
- Collaborate in creative direction for video and audio productions, including scripting, visual style, and tone.
- Make independent decisions on artistic elements such as lighting, composition, pacing, and sound design.
- Design and produce multimedia content that reflects unique artistic vision.
- Operate video and audio recording equipment to capture content for training use.
- Operates video and audio boards during live production.
- Edit raw footage and audio using software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- Follow detailed project briefs and creative direction provided by Instructional Designers.
- Operate drones to capture aerial video and photography, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations.
- Ensure technical quality and consistency across multimedia deliverables.
- Organize and archive multimedia assets for future use.
- Setup and breakdown of equipment for on-site shoots.
- Maintain schedule for KU’s studio and equipment.
- Maintain production equipment.
- Identifies and makes recommendations to KU leadership on tool and equipment investments, including replacement equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED Required.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Multimedia, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in video/audio production and editing.
- Proficiency in multimedia editing software.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to obtain remote pilot certification within one year.
- Experience operating drones for video production preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel 25%.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Office, outdoor or remote setting with occasional travel for on-site production.
- Requires lifting and transporting media equipment.
