Now Hiring Part-Time Assistant Music Teachers!
This is a temporary, part-time role that’s a great stepping stone for emerging educators and musicians who love working with kids and want to develop their teaching skills. Starting pay is $25/hour. The class is 1.5 hours, so $37.50 per class.
- Weekday afternoon availability: Wednesdays 3:30pm–5:00pm in Ravenswood
- Ability to sing in tune and keep a steady beat
- Experience working with children ages 3-6 (babysitting, camp counseling, tutoring, or classroom experience all count!)
- Interest in gaining classroom teaching and music education experience
This position runs for the 2025–2026 school year (September–June). There is a possibility of adding more hours, but the current open position is for the hours listed above.
About The Music Playhouse of Chicago
We offer high-quality, super fun, and interactive early childhood music education classes for children ages 0–6, both as parent/child classes and in schools. Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience working with young children in any setting
- MUST love children
- MUST be a good singer
- Ability to play ukulele (basic chords: C, Am, F, G7) a plus, but not required
- Musical background (some formal training, ensembles, or performance a bonus)
- Fun, positive, energetic, and outgoing personality
- Team player—eager to learn, take direction, and grow into leadership
