Overview
Life Time Events has a uniquely exciting opportunity to participate in the ongoing development and growth of our Off-Road Events portfolio leading marketing efforts across multiple events outlined below. These events take place in various regions of the country and include mainly mountain/gravel biking and trail running events. This position works in close collaboration with division leadership and the corporate marketing team to identify opportunities that increase engagement among past participants, prospective registrants, Life Time members, sponsors, community organizations and cause marketing partners. This role directly contributes to the financial success of the Life Time Media and Events division and supports Life Time’s corporate mission as the nation’s premier healthy lifestyle brand. Lutsen 99er, Tahoe Trail, Austin Rattler This position has direct oversight of the marketing of three events: Lutsen 99er, Tahoe Trail, and the Austin Rattler. From website management, social media, email communications, and paid media to athlete participation items such as participant t-shirts, finisher medals, and onsite signage, this role oversees all brand touchpoints to provide exceptional experiences to athletes, communities, and sponsors alike. The Marketing Manager must wear many hats, serving as a marketing generalist across all aspects of marketing, with responsibilities including but not limited to:
Creates strategic and tactical omni-channel marketing plans for each event
SOURCES, SECURES AND EXECUTES designated marketing tactics within specific budget parameters through email, social, digital, direct mail, grassroots and OOH channels
Manages workflow between marketing team and external vendors, including graphic designers, digital media and public relations agencies
Oversees all communication channels including: website, social media, digital paid media campaign and grassroots efforts to ensure proper registration growth and objectives are met
Understands endurance events landscape and presents opportunities for growth and leadership within the marketplace
Coordinates and supports grassroots marketing efforts in event markets as needed, including Life Time club activities and local partners
Collaborates with apparel and merchandise team on event items including: finisher medals, apparel/merchandise and related items
Leads with local public relations and community teams/resources as needed
Manages the on-site marketing responsibilities in collaboration with event operations, partnership activation, athlete services and public relations teams, including live social media plan, management of photographers/videographers, content creators and on-site media members
Coordination and project management of communication with athletes, vendors and internal stakeholders for key Life Time Events objectives
Other duties/responsibilities as assigned
Sea Otter Classic: This position also supports marketing efforts for the Life Time Sea Otter Classic, the world’s premier cycling festival in Monterey, CA. As part of this role, the Marketing Manager works closely with the Associate Director of Marketing to execute all marketing efforts that include athlete registration, festival attendance, industry outreach, media credentials, and more. A complex and world-renowned event, the Sea Otter Classic requires year-round marketing efforts and an omni-channel approach. The Marketing Manager will support the full marketing efforts, with a focus on responsibilities included but not limited to:
Manages day-to-day grassroots outreach program, focused on driving participation in Northern/Central California, including oversight of a small team of regional Community Marketing Coordinators
Managing various outreach programs including: Industry Connect, Cycling Clubs, Ambassadors
Oversees long-term strategy and execution on social media channels
Manages workflow between marketing team and external vendors, including graphic designers, digital media and public relations agencies
Maintains website and ensuring accuracy and regular content updates
Administers periodic website, social media, digital campaign and grassroots audits to ensure proper registration growth and objectives are met
Manages the on-site marketing responsibilities in collaboration with event operations, partnership activation, athlete services and public relations teams, including live social plan, management of content creators and on-site media members
Coordination and project management of communication with athletes, vendors and internal stakeholders for key Life Time Events objectives, including the Life Time Grand Prix
Other duties/responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Must be passionate about events, and well-versed in endurance sports
Demonstrates positive energy to effectively represent brand both internally and externally
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to think creatively and implement new marketing trends, tactics
Desire to work across teams and skillfully collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
Must have strong computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as basic experience in Adobe CS (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and have great adaptability on new software systems
Must have intimate working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube
Must be energetic and confident in new scenarios
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with the Central CA and Northern CA cycling markets
Experience planning and executing pop-up events
Strong cyclist and/or strong passion for growing cycling participation
Basic video editing skills
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field
Years of Experience
3-5+ years prior Direct to Consumer marketing experience
3-5+ years prior event or brand marketing experience including event production and operations a plus
Licenses / Certifications / Registrations
Active driver’s license
Location
Remote role and must be located full-time in Monterey, CA or in Northern/Central California within a 150 mile radius north/northeast of Monterey.
This role does require frequent travel to Monterey, CA and surrounding communities in Central/Northern California for field marketing activations. Additional travel for event weekends required.
