The final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and works to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care, and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. This role uses professional practice models, current standards of practice, and clinical experience to deliver quality patient care as measured by nursing quality standards and governing/accrediting bodies. The Staff Nurse I engages with patients and families to advocate for patients, develops patient education plans, and collaborates with the health care team to promote effective patient care. It participates in organizational and shared leadership activities and supports department and unit goals. Duties & Responsibilities
Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessment and input from the patient and family. Shares information and collaborates with other health care team members to promote effective patient care. Verifies and implements orders from physicians/advanced practice providers and documents accurately in the electronic medical record. Engages with patient and/or family to develop an appropriate educational plan. Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to changing patient needs. Delegates tasks to support personnel per the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and provides feedback. Advocates for patients, families, and the community, and supports the nursing profession. Integrates theoretical knowledge and evidence-based practice to provide quality patient care as measured by standards. Assumes role of Charge Nurse when assigned and utilizes appropriate resources. Collaborates with nurses to identify and provide learning experiences for staff and students. Works as a preceptor or resource to nursing, support staff, and students. pursues ongoing professional growth by identifying learning needs and taking steps to meet them. Other duties as assigned and participation in special projects as needed. Minimum Qualifications
Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit-specific certifications. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). 40 hours with 10-hour shifts; rotating day off during the week (M-F). Rotating on-call M-F, weekends, and holidays. Effective communication skills (oral and written) for therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers. Intermediate computer skills with ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history. To Apply
