Job Description NBC News is looking for a talented executive producer and leader to primarily oversee our daily podcast called “Here’s the Scoop.” This new role will manage a small team of producers who produce a podcast that captures the news of the day and leverages the best of NBC News original reporting, access to the newsmakers of our time, and dispatches from the field. We’re looking for an innovative leader who is a news junkie, understands the podcast space, and can help drive our strategy and growth.

This role requires experience in managing an editorial video team, driving news curation and strategy, and collaborating with anchors, correspondents, and stakeholders throughout the newsroom. We are looking for a candidate with an understanding of what resonates with audiences and uses those insights to drive engagement and growth for the podcast.

The role is based in our 30 Rock office in New York and in-office in keeping with company requirements

Responsibilities:

Oversee the overall quality, editorial value, cadence and execution of this daily podcast

Be read-in on the major news stories of the day and react to breaking news

Strategize on the optimal editorial programming for each show and constantly evaluate how to improve and elevate it to achieve growth and deep engagement with viewers

Work closely with the hosts to continue to hone the editorial direction and execution of the podcast with a focus on hard news

Partner with anchors, correspondents, producers, and reporters in the newsroom to craft elevated podcast segments around NBC News reporting and access to stories in the field

Cultivate strong relationships with other newsroom leaders and stakeholders, including the booking team to leverage the best of NBC News

Provide clear and constructive notes on the podcast and its social video content to ensure that the final product meets editorial, audio and visual standards

Create a production calendar to identify key news moments and strategize around how we cover tentpole news events with depth and creativity

Execute upon KPIs, or goals, for video growth

Look for promotional / partnership opportunities to collaborate with the marketing and PR teams to propel growth

Maintain a strong pulse on our analytics and performance in order to derive information that can be incorporated into iterating on our strategy

Collaborate with the podcast, post-production, and graphics teams

Look for ways to experiment with new formats that are optimized for audio and social video platforms

Oversee the workflow and processes to ensure efficiencies and within budget

Hire, develop and grow key talent within the team

Look for opportunities and manage growth of the podcast to grow off-platform and as a brand

Qualifications

At least 7 years of experience in audio and/or video production, with at least 3 years leading a team

Fluent in the culture of podcasts and social media and what content formats, topics, and styles resonate there

A strong understanding of social analytics, and the ability to provide informed feedback on content performance

Experience in managing a team of producers

Desired Characteristics:

Exceptional news judgment, leadership, decisiveness, and communication skills

Decisive knowhow in managing a team in breaking news moments

Knowledge of current and latest software that can be helpful for our workflows

Familiarity with breaking news and live news content curation and production

Experience working for a major news organization or news podcast on a daily show

Successful track record on DTC platforms and growth

A plus if you have video podcast experience

Additional Requirements

Hybrid

: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary range:

$160,000 - $185,000
