Overview

The Music Worship Pastor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the musical worship of the church in a way that Glorifies God and encourages the congregation to participate in the Praise and Worship portion of the service. This individual will work closely with the Senior Pastor, Chairman of Trustees, Music Director, Music Administrator, Praise and Worship Leads, Musicians, Praise Teams, Choir, Youth Choir Director, Audio/Visual team, Special Musical Guests and Liturgical Dance Leader, to create and sustain a weekly worship experience that will enhance the worship service.

Primary responsibility:

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Prepare music for Sunday services, Communion Services, and Special Church organized events as needed. Select appropriate worship songs, choir material and hymnals, that are in alignment with the church culture, pastor’s messages, with music that is a cross between traditional and mainstream Gospel music.
  • Coordinate and rehearse with music team/band/choir weekly
  • Develop vocalists (choir and praise team) spiritually and musically
  • Collaborate with Pastor, Admin Staff, Church Leaders of other ministries in planning for special days (ie. Women’s Day, Men’s Day, Anniversary, Resurrection Sunday etc. etc.)
  • 1st Wednesday of the Month Provide worship music for evening service
  • Coordinate with Audio/Visual Team to provide necessary lyric slides, tracks for music, and sound checks to provide sound quality for weekly services
  • Maintain familiarity with worship software (ie. ProPresenter, Planning Center Services, Pro Tools preferred) but not mandatory
  • Maintain and oversee musical equipment for tuning, and tech systems upkeep to ensure overall excellence in performance
  • Have vision for the progression of this ministry; partnering with other churches and attending musical workshops to enhance leadership and production

Qualifications

  • Have a mature, healthy relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Must be able to work well with Senior Pastor and Music Department
  • Ability to sing and teach parts (able to play Keyboard/Organ is preferred)
  • Good leadership qualities: Ability to Communicate, Administrate, and Team-Building
  • Experience in Leading Worship and Directing Choirs
  • Commitment to living a holy life and aligning with church’s vision to: Glorify God, Edify the Believer and Evangelize the Lost
  • Spends time in prayer and Bible study
  • Preferably an active and supportive member of this church
  • Be flexible… Pastor can come up with something randomly
  • Good attitude and Live what you sing about
  • Maintain a heart of humility and service in all ministry duties
