Position summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Audio-Visual Technician with extensive experience in building, supporting, and operating AV/IT systems. The candidate will plan, construct, operate, and troubleshoot diverse audio-visual and multimedia systems, focusing on integrating solutions to ensure high system uptime and performance. The role requires proficiency in both preventative maintenance and reactive support to guarantee seamless operation of all AV/IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate can remain calm in high-stress, public-facing environments with frequent changes in direction. Similar to other LCS professional legislative staff, the successful candidate will work in a non-partisan manner.
The Colorado General Assembly is a small but high-profile state government department with approximately 500 users, including 100 legislators. LIS provides computing, network, storage infrastructure and support to all legislative staff, legislators, and others in the Capitol. LIS also implements and supports AV equipment and services in 12 committee rooms, the House of Representatives and Senate chambers. Remote testimony and participation for committee hearings are managed by this team.
This is a full-time, salaried state employment, onsite position with limited work-from-home options. You must be authorized to work in the US. Persons seeking contract positions or visa sponsorship need not apply.
Work location and remote work: This position is not hybrid. During the four-month legislative session (January–May), work is in person 100%. During the eight-month legislative interim (May–December), on-site presence is required with limited options based on office needs and supervisory approval.
Salary and employment details: This is a full-time, salaried state employment position with onsite and limited work-from-home options. Salary range is $65,000 to $85,000 per year, depending on education and experience. Legislative Council Staff employees are not members of the state personnel system. Pursuant to the Colorado constitution, legislative employees are not part of the state personnel system.

Education and experience
You must have a substantial background in AV/IT technical support, with a minimum of five years of dedicated experience in the field.

Primary responsibilities
- Provide excellent technical support with a focus on customer service;
- Identify, analyze, plan, and advise on AV system solutions based on cost, support, flexibility, and long-term vision;
- Monitor and respond to software/hardware matters related to AV networking, microphones, speakers, streaming encoders, DSPs, DMPS, and related infrastructure, services, and applications;
- Manage user accounts and rights for audio software and services;
- Proactive troubleshooting and documentation of system events to ensure continuous functioning;
- Learn, implement and support end-user digital workplace technologies;
- Improve existing processes and training;
- Collaborate across technical and business teams;
