Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in health communication, health campaigns, media and health, qualitative research methods.
- Preference for candidates who can teach more general communication courses, including organizational communication, communication theory, and persuasion.
- Engage in scholarly research or appropriate creative work; teach five courses per year; contribute to service to the school, college, university, and professional associations (e.g., National Communication Association or International Communication Association).
- Teach graduate-level courses and direct theses and projects in the graduate program.
- Demonstrate ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in health communication and related health communication processes; develop health communication courses, especially those dealing with community-based health.
- Be prepared to teach in person on campus; willing to teach large lecture courses; interest in developing online courses and/or study abroad opportunities.
- Salary is competitive, dependent on qualifications and funding.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Ph.D. in Communication or related field at the start of appointment; demonstrated record of excellence in teaching college-level courses; strong scholarly or creative productivity or potential; ABD candidates may be considered.
- If doctoral degree is not completed by Aug. 16, 2026, the position reverts to instructor; offer withdrawn if Ph.D. is not earned by May 15, 2027.
- Eligibility to work in the United States at the start of appointment; excellent communication skills.
