About Black Girls Smile
Black Girls Smile Inc. is dedicated to encouraging positive mental health education, resources, and support for Black girls, youth, and young adults. As we enter a new era of world-building, we are shaping a digital voice and presence that reflects joy, wellness, and empowerment.
About the Role
We are seeking a Content Manager to elevate and expand the voice of Black Girls Smile across our digital platforms. This role will play a key part in ensuring our community feels seen, supported, and inspired.
Reporting directly to the Marketing and Communications Lead, the Content Manager will co-create our content calendar and lead day-to-day execution across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads, and our newsletter.
The ideal candidate is both creative and strategic, deeply attuned to mental health, pop culture, and identity — especially as they intersect with the lived experiences of Black girls, youth, and young adults (ages 13–26). While this role is open to strong applicants nationwide, we strongly prefer candidates based in New York City for occasional in-person collaboration and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Marketing and Communications Lead to build and manage a monthly content calendar.
- Create, schedule, and publish engaging, brand-aligned content across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads, and newsletters.
- Monitor and incorporate cultural and social trends (mental health, identity, pop culture) into content strategy to stay relevant and resonant.
- Write clear, compelling copy that reflects our brand voice and values.
- Ensure consistency in visual identity, tone, and messaging across platforms.
- Track, analyze, and report engagement metrics; use insights to refine and improve strategy.
- Stay ahead of social media updates, trends, and best practices.
- Support digital storytelling across campaigns, programs, and partnerships.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in social media and/or content management, ideally within mission-driven, cultural, or youth-focused spaces.
- Proven ability to manage digital platforms for a brand, organization, or company.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a keen sense of voice and audience.
- Deep awareness of mental health conversations, pop culture, and identity as they relate to Black girls and young adults.
- Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite, scheduling platforms).
- Demonstrated experience creating content that builds engagement and community.
- Highly organized; able to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
- Creative, solutions-oriented thinker who translates strategy into fresh, impactful content.
- Based in New York City (preferred), with ability to join occasional in-person meetings or events.
