Overview

Associate Director & Head of Public Services, Hoover Library — a regular, full-time, 12-month management position providing direct support for the Library Director and leadership for the library's public services.

Working with the Library Director, the Associate Director assists in the management of all library operations. The role manages the public service areas of the library, including Reference, Circulation/Reserves, Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery, Instruction, and Programming/Outreach. Coordinates reference services with other college librarians and staff and liaises with IT Help Desk support services. Directly supervises one librarian, two full-time staff and a graduate assistant. Indirectly supervises student assistants. Coordinates the student internship program for the library. Participates with other librarians in providing instruction, supporting collection development, liaison to assigned departments, and other duties as assigned. Some evening and occasional weekend hours required. This position reports to the Library Director.

Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $73,000.00

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the library's public services and support the Library Director in overall operations.
  • Supervise public services staff and coordinate shifts, workload, and professional development.
  • Oversee Reference, Circulation/Reserves, Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery, Instruction, and Programming/Outreach.
  • Coordinate reference services with other college librarians and liaise with IT Help Desk support services.
  • Supervise one librarian, two full-time staff, and a graduate assistant; indirectly supervise student assistants; coordinate the student internship program.
  • Participate in instruction, collection development, liaison to assigned departments, and other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours as required.
  • Report to the Library Director.

Qualifications

  • Must be a regular, full-time employee in a management position within the library.
  • Experience supervising professional and support staff.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple public service areas and collaborate with campus stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
