Overview
Music Companion Hospice Volunteer - Direct Care at Care Partners. If you love music and want to share your gift with others, you can enrich the lives of hospice patients in your community through in-person visits and by sharing your talents. Hours are extremely flexible.
As a music companion volunteer you may visit patients at their residences to share music with one or multiple patients. If you play an instrument or enjoy singing, you can bring joy into the lives of patients and support their comfort and companionship during hospice care.
Volunteer Orientation is offered three times per year. Our training process ensures that volunteers are knowledgeable and confident as they enter their volunteer service.

Responsibilities
- Visit hospice patients in their homes to provide musical enjoyment and companionship.
- Share music through performance, singing, or other musical activities as appropriate for the patient and family.
- Collaborate with staff to review details of a patient’s life before introduction and meet with them on a regular basis.
- Respect patient preferences, goals, and dignity; follow Care Partners policies and confidentiality requirements.
- Provide a compassionate presence and assistance as needed to support families and caregivers.
Qualifications
- Love music and a desire to share it with others.
- A considerate, patient, and reliable personality.
- Ability to commit to regular visits as arranged with the patient and program staff.
- Willingness to participate in training and orientation.
- Ability to respect patient confidentiality and boundaries.

Care Partners is a not-for-profit, community-based hospice serving Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, and parts of Yamhill and Columbia counties, with services throughout the Portland metropolitan region. Our main offices are in Hillsboro, OR. Since 1982 we have provided compassionate, patient-centered hospice and palliative care, as well as grief support for families and the community.
