Overview

UX Designer II, SPEAR role at Amazon. The Special Programs, Evaluations, Assessments & Response (SPEAR) team seeks an experienced User Design (UX) Designer to join our Security Engineering team. You'll be instrumental in developing sophisticated user interfaces for security assessment platforms and automated evaluation systems that protect Amazon's global infrastructure. This position offers a unique blend of front end development and user design, requiring collaboration with security professionals across Amazon's diverse facilities. This role is remotely based and requires approximately 10% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Design user experiences, from research and strategy to prototyping and testing.
  • Conduct in-depth user research through interviews, usability testing, and analytics to deeply understand user needs and pain points.
  • Create detailed user journeys, information architecture, wireframes, and high-fidelity interactive prototypes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and stakeholders, to ensure designs meet business requirements and technical feasibility.
  • Champion a user-centered design approach throughout the organization and advocate for the needs of users.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest UX trends, best practices, and design tools, and apply innovative solutions to complex design problems.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the overall UX of products and services through ongoing user feedback and performance analysis.
  • Effectively communicate design decisions and rationale to both technical and non-technical audiences.

About The Team

The Special Projects, Evaluations, Assessments, and Response (SPEAR) team provides security expertise to identify and address challenging security issues. SPEAR conducts deep dives of physical, technical, and wireless security measures to help protect Amazon customers' information. The SPEAR Operational Support and Service (OS2) Security Engineering team builds and manages scalable distributed systems to support stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of design experience
  • 3+ years delivering design solutions as a UX designer or interaction designer
  • Have an online portfolio
  • Experience prototyping (HTML, XHTML, JavaScript, CSS, Flash/Flash Catalyst, or Axure)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in information architecture and interaction design best practices; strong knowledge of UX principles
  • Experience collaborating with developers for implementation
  • Experience with security teams to design security tools
  • Strong user-centered design methodologies, usability principles, and web information architecture

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $184,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
