About the Role
The Broadcast Engineer builds and maintains cutting-edge platforms for one of the premier national broadcasters. This role is part of our Broadcast Engineering team to ensure our content is readily available to viewers at any time via broadcast channel playout, Video OnDemand (VOD) and other media services. You will have the opportunity to bring your best technology to invent and build solutions that deliver a high-quality viewer experience across FOX networks, digital platforms, mobile applications, websites, and licensing partnerships.

Responsibilities
Engineering & Support
- Provides engineering support for all on-air broadcast systems
- Follows standard operating procedures and documentation to support the operations team in a 24/7 environment
- Builds and maintains FOX's broadcast infrastructure
- Conducts lab, performance and system tests and prototype efforts that evolve FOX's architecture and infrastructure
- Supports evaluation of solutions portfolio against third party offerings
- Maintains a communication link between Broadcast Engineering and other departments by partnering to resolve issues and communicating feedback to Broadcast Engineering management to improve processes, services and solutions
Collaboration & Partnerships
- Supports Media Operations in day-to-day operations and assists users with technical issues or concerns
- Partners with Engineering and Standards & Advanced Technology teams to develop groundbreaking technology solutions for challenging business issues
- Collaborates with engineering teams, operations teams, and third-party vendors to develop long-term strategy, product development and implementation road maps
Performance Improvement
- Uses data to understand and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team’s performance
- Analyzes dashboards and optimizes system security and testing, minimizing bugs reaching final products

What You Will Need
Level & Role Specific Qualification
- 6+ years hands-on experience working in a broadcast or television facility
- Strong working understanding of the SMPTE 2110 suite of standards as well as NMOS specifications developed by AMWA
- Knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM), on-prem virtual machines, containerization, and orchestration tools
- Understanding of common compression techniques such as MPEG2/4, HEVC, JPEG 2000, and JPEG XS
- Knowledge of intercom systems, preferably including Riedel solutions
- Strong analytical, reasoning, and technical troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of major broadcast systems and vendors in routing, storage, graphics, transcoding, playout, master control, etc.
- Strong knowledge of asset management systems, file-based workflows, media acquisition, transcoding/encoding, NAS/SAN technologies
- Familiarity with on-prem and cloud-based storage and compute infrastructure platforms
- In-depth understanding of IP, including IPv4 addressing, subnetting, routing, and network design principles. Familiar with IP protocols such as TCP, UDP, RTP, DNS, and NAT. Knowledge of Arista networking tools is highly desirable

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, IT, Computer Science or related tech field
- Knowledge and experience with emerging technologies such as 4K HDR and HDR10+
- Knowledge of industry standards such as ATSC and SMPTE

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $143,000.00 - $147,000.00 annually. This role is eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
