Overview

MSNBC is seeking a talented and versatile Graphic Designer (Broadcast) to join our creative team. This mid-level role focuses primarily on producing high-quality static graphics for daily television shows, ensuring MSNBC’s on-air look remains sharp, consistent, and brand-aligned. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, newsroom environment, has excellent design instincts, and can balance creativity with accuracy under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver daily static graphics for MSNBC programs, including lower-thirds, full-screen templates, charts, and editorial visuals.
  • Collaborate closely with producers, editorial staff, and art directors to meet show needs and maintain brand consistency.
  • Adapt graphics quickly in response to breaking news and live programming demands.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Maintain organized files, templates, and toolkits to ensure efficient workflows.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as news coverage requires.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional design experience, ideally in broadcast television, news, or a similar fast-turn environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects); knowledge of Vizrt or similar broadcast graphics systems a plus.
  • Solid understanding of typography, layout, and visual storytelling for television.
  • Ability to remain calm and resourceful under deadline pressure.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a newsroom or production setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field preferred (or equivalent professional experience).

Additional Information

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, contributing from the New York, NY (MSNBC) office
  • Full-time; some evenings and weekends may be required
  • Must be willing to work in the New York, NY office.
