Overview
Investment Editor/Writer (Hybrid) — The American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) is seeking an investment editor/writer. This full-time position entails creating compelling educational content for our publications and website, as well as for syndication.
This is a Chicago-based hybrid (home and office) position for a candidate who is well-versed in investing and possesses strong writing and editing skills. We are particularly seeking a candidate who is knowledgeable about stocks and/or mutual funds and ETFs. Knowledge of financial planning issues is a plus.
AAII is a nonprofit membership organization that assists individuals in becoming effective managers of their own assets through programs of education, information and research.
Responsibilities
- Explain investment concepts including asset allocation strategies, withdrawal planning and portfolio construction principles in written commentaries, presentations and video
- Demonstrate analytical techniques for evaluating stocks, mutual funds and ETFs (P/E ratios, expense ratios, performance metrics, etc.)
- Translate complex financial research into educational content for individual investors
- Write and manage a stock investment newsletter featuring educational insights and market commentary
- Oversee and communicate the process behind a model portfolio, including stock selection rationale and portfolio management concepts
Educational Content Development
- Create instructional materials teaching investors how to analyze investments and build portfolios
- Design and update educational reports on investment analysis methods and portfolio management concepts
- Develop and enhance a"how-to" guides and articles explaining how individual investors can incorporate key concepts and use analytical tools
- Collaborate with our marketing department to ensure educational content reaches and engages a broad audience
- Develop templates and guide external writers on financial accuracy and educational standards
- Source and edit educational content from investment professionals and market experts
- Create user guides for financial education tools and research platforms
Qualifications
- Holds a college degree in a relevant field
- Has at least four years of experience writing investment-related content
- Possesses strong writing and editing skills
- Hasa deep understanding of investing concepts, including key stock and fund metrics
- Has a self-motivated team player who can also work independently
- Can manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
