Job Summary

The Media Solutions Director is a recognized industry subject matter expert responsible for driving strategic growth opportunities in the media, television, and broadcast sectors within the network operator space. This role focuses on cultivating new business opportunities, expanding existing partnerships, and serving as the company\'s go-to authority on industry trends, competitive positioning, and emerging technologies. While not directly managing staff, this individual wields significant influence by advising senior leadership, shaping market strategies, and collaborating cross-functionally to execute revenue-generating initiatives.

The Director of Media is responsible for aligning the use of media industry and Company technology standards to connect with customer requirements and initiatives. Stays abreast of current and emerging technologies/technological practices to assist in the strategic decisions of the company and Business Solutions. Responsible for partnering with sales to drive media solutions end-to-end including processes, sales opportunities, product development and engineering as part of the design solution. Collaborates with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Business Operations to develop necessary ideas that lead to a great customer experience. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and important business environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities in the media, TV, and broadcast verticals, including content delivery, streaming, OTT, live production, and distribution.
  • Support sales teams with subject matter expertise during deal negotiations, RFP responses, and customer workshops.
  • Subject Matter Expert in SRT, DWDM, RIST, JPEG XS, IP Encapsulated Video
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including content providers, broadcasters, streaming platforms, and technology vendors.
  • Develop, document, and establish good practices in solutions architecture across team members
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, product, and engineering teams to align solutions with customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Act as the internal authority on industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments affecting the media and broadcast sectors
  • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to influence corporate strategy and investment decisions.
  • Represent Astound Business Solutions at industry events, conferences, and customer engagements, positioning the organization as a trusted partner and innovator.
  • Identify and develop strategic alliances with content distributors, broadcast networks, media technology providers, and system integrators.
  • Partner with product management to define and refine solutions tailored to the needs of media and broadcast customers.
  • Create and deliver high-impact presentations, proposals, and thought leadership content to advance sales opportunities and brand positioning.
  • Negotiate partnership terms and manage ongoing partner relationships to ensure mutual growth and value creation.
  • Work strategically with Account Managers, Sales Leaders, and Product Managers to increase sales closure rates by designing solutions that adhere to company standards while driving low cost and high quality
  • Review proposed solutions and identify gaps in systems design and workflow
  • Set clear expectations with boundary partners and customers to drive accountability and resolution
  • Encourage solution sharing and knowledge transfer among the Sales Engineering team by fostering teamwork, transparency, and partnership.
  • Assist product groups to effectively communicate with field sales representatives about road maps, engineering releases, managing technical escalations and the effects on commercial clients
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements/Qualifications

Education: Bachelor\'s Degree in Business, Telecommunications, Media or related field

Experience:

  • Eight (8) or more years of multi-service operator (MSO) or related telecommunications experience in technology, network design and engineering or project management
  • 10+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or strategic account management in the telecommunications, media, or broadcast industry.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Secure Reliable Transport (SRT), Reliable Internet Stream Transport (RIST), IP Delivery (e.g., Zixi), Encoding/Decoding.
  • Proven track record of closing complex deals and developing long-term strategic relationships.
  • Multimedia container formats (AVI, MP4, FLV, RealMedia, Matroska, etc.).
  • Deep understanding of media distribution, broadcast technologies, OTT platforms, and related network infrastructure.
  • Excellent communicator and presenter
  • Audio and video encoding/decoding (MPEG2, MPEG4, H.264, H.265)
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and drive consensus
  • Analytical skills to solve technical and business issues and translate technical capabilities into business solutions
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and client-facing communication skills
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% for client meetings, industry events, and strategic planning
  • Proven ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and build consensus
  • Solid sales advocacy with relationship-building skills
  • Passion for the customer and the industry
  • Technical ability to define product requirements and understand client impact
  • History of attracting, developing, engaging and retaining highly motivated team members

Base Salary: The base salary range for this position is $165,000-$175,000 annually, plus opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable. Actual pay will vary based on skills, experience, and capabilities.
