Access Control Officer - Newport News, VA

Unarmed Security Officers perform various security-related duties depending on the post. This role involves patrolling and monitoring exterior and community areas on-premises, controlling entrances and exits, and ensuring the orderly departure of employees and visitors. You will monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activities and use provided communication devices clearly and concisely. CPR or first aid may be required. You must read, write, speak, and understand English and be able to read, interpret, and apply contract rules, regulations, directives, and procedures. Details and daily activity/incident reporting are part of the responsibilities. Knowledge of magnetometer and X-ray machine usage is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrolling and monitoring exterior and community areas on-premises.
• Access control of entrances and exits and departure of employees and visitors.
• Monitoring surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activities.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English; interpret and apply contract rules and procedures.
• Provide detailed reports on daily activities and incidents.
• Use magnetometer and X-ray machines effectively.
• Communicate clearly using two-way radios and other provided devices.
• Perform CPR or first aid when needed.
• Maintain credentials per contract requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Project Manager.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; an Associates Degree is preferred.
• Two (2) years of verifiable experience as an Unarmed Security Officer.
• Knowledgeable of the security industry.
• Customer service-driven mindset.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers/clients.

Education & Certification

• High School Diploma/GED
• Associates Degree
• VA DCJS Unarmed Certification
• CPR/First Aid Certification
