Overview
The Contractor shall perform troubleshooting, tear-down, repair, refurbishment, overhaul, assembly, testing, and installation services for designated equipment at the request of FAALC Product Divisions or Groups. Labor categories may include Electronics Technicians and Engineering Technicians to meet specific task requirements. Services aim to ensure equipment meets serviceability, reliability, and availability requirements, in accordance with FAA and FAALC standards, orders, technical instructions, and quality procedures.
Responsibilities
- The Contractor shall perform troubleshooting, tear-down, repair, refurbishment, overhaul, assembly, testing, and installation services for designated equipment at the request of FAALC Product Divisions or Groups.
- The Contractor shall provide engineering technician services to FAALC Product Divisions to help assure that electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment meets serviceability, reliability, and availability requirements.
- These services may include assembling, repairing and refurbishing equipment, components, test fixtures, and prototypes; performing equipment performance analyses and data collection and reporting; and installing equipment and modifications.
- The Contractor shall complete all tasks in accordance with applicable FAA and FAALC standards, orders, technical instructions, and quality procedures.
- Equipment assembly and repair: assemble and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, subsystems, and components; include design, fabrication, and construction of items such as power and signal cables, circuit boards, test fixtures, and engineering prototypes; perform performance analysis, disassembly/assembly, troubleshooting, parts replacement, painting, and composite work; complete adjustment, testing, and certification processes; document all functions per the applicable technical documentation.
- Equipment installation: install electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, subsystems, components, test fixtures, modifications, and engineering prototypes; may perform adjustment, testing, and certification.
- Equipment performance analyses and data collection: perform analyses to determine operating characteristics and parameters, aid fault isolation, verify functions under variable conditions; collect and record engineering data; extract, produce, compile, and present systems data and logistics information.
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance on FAA and interagency systems in accordance with local and FAA policy and procedures.
- Enter time into the Data Collection and Reporting System (DCRS) daily for timely billing; keep crew leads informed of task status; participate in tower work and at heights up to 750 feet; perform corrosion control and prevention; operate equipment such as boom lifts and motorized forklifts; work from ropes at heights as required.
- Assist crew leads with workload scheduling and planning; meet with internal and external customers regarding projects; assist junior technicians and provide on-the-job training; assist in project package reviews and provide feedback to internal customers.
Qualifications
- An associate degree in electrical or engineering technology and completion of formal technical training courses is required for level II.
- Physical fitness evaluation is required due to safety obligations, including weight restrictions of 125 lbs minimum and 290 lbs maximum.
- Practical experience in an engineering technician support position, including developing, reviewing, and updating engineering documentation and processes; troubleshooting, repairing, assembling, testing, and installing electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
- Experience in producing, reviewing, revising, and interpreting technical documents; assisting in designing, fabricating, assembling, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems and components.
- NACI Clearance – ability to obtain Public Trust.
- Estimated monthly travel: 70%.
- Valid driver's license; two forms of unexpired identification (primary and secondary) such as a REAL ID, passport, birth certificate, SSN card, etc.
- Eligibility to obtain a Public Trust clearance; U.S. government-issued identification requirements listed as primary and secondary.
Desired Qualifications
- Rope repelling / on-rope work at heights; specialized knowledge of FAA systems, equipment, procedures, and operations is highly desired.
- Experience with installation of electronic and mechanical systems and components; preventative maintenance and replacement of tower, radome, and cab glass components.
- Experience with operation of boom man lifts, motorized forklifts; ability to work at heights; completion of trip reports.
