Primary Responsibilities
- The Art department at Sul Ross State University is seeking a part-time Art Studio Technician in Ceramics and Sculptures. The Studio Technician’s primary responsibilities include supporting the ceramic and sculpture programs and assisting with other studio classes as needed.
- Train student workers in the ceramics/sculpture area.
- Load and unload kilns; implement studio safety guidelines.
- Assist faculty with installation of exhibitions in galleries and student pop-up art shows.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in art; or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position.
- Extensive 3-D ceramic studio experience, including working knowledge of loading, firing, and maintenance of all kinds of kilns, ordering ceramic materials, making glazes.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
