Selectek has an immediate need for a telecom Fiber Designer that will be asked to design detailed fiber design and route plans for OSP work.ÂnGeneral Duties / Key Responsibilities:nnUtilize QGIS, ArcGIS, and other GIS tools to create FTTX designs.nLearn new tools and methods to aid with design and cross function between multiple markets with various customers.nAnalyze network demand point data to create the most effective design.nProvide CAD support for fiber systems through creation of permit plan and profile drawings, construction drawings and conduit designs.nReview permitting prints as needed for various designs in the permitting stage and give feedback as related to design to minimize changes that might be costly or difficult.nProvide exemplary project communication and adhere to project/jurisdictional requirements.nMaintain a robust quality control/assurance process to include but not limited to: Completing validation checks and QA/QC of fiber designs.nDesign Fiber to the Home, backhaul/transport fiber routes, MDU, distribution/feeder design using provided design software and methods.nPerforms fiber splicing during splicing stages for design within GIS or software programs.nFunctionally understand easements, right-of-ways, aerial plant, and buried plant to aid in the design process.nThe ability to read and understand maps, plats, as-builts, construction drawings and utility records is highly desirable.nPerform any/all duties related to fiber-optic (or copper/coax) network designs that may be required for project(s).nnSenior Fiber Designer (In addition to the General Duties / Key Responsibilities above)nnPerforms quality assurance on other designers work with minimum guidance needed.nDisplays an in-depth understanding of fiber architecture across multiple markets.nTakes ownership of special projects with limited supervision.nSupports Lead Designer and/or Manager in the training of new hires or lower-level Designers.nnLead Fiber Designer (In addition to the General Duties / Key Responsibilities above)nnResponsible for ensuring the timely completion and delivery of projects.nSupervises and provides performance feedback to Designers.nProvides recommendations regarding process improvements and training opportunities.nResponsible for training and making training materials for new hires or lower-level Designers.nnPerforms final quality assurance checks on lower level and senior designers work as needed with limited to no guidance for fundamentals.nFamiliar with all markets on a high enough level to design independently, knowing all design parameters required by all customers.nnRequired Job Qualifications:nnA minimum of 2 years designing fiber network solutions with an emphasis on FTTX networks.nKnowledgeable in fiber optic network design.n1 or more years of experience with Fiber Design SoftwarennQGIS, ArcMap, ArcPro, ARCGIS, AGOL, OSPInsight, 3GIS or other GIS based systems (preference will be placed on direct QGIS experience).nOr any relevant fiber optic design-based softwarennSenior Fiber Designernn2-4 years of related GIS and/or telecom records experience.n3 years of telecom experience with distributed split networks, greenfield, brownfield, and splicing/fiber counts.n1 or more years of experience with centralized split networks.nnLead Fiber Designernn2-4 years of related GIS and telecom records experience.n4 or more years telecom experience with distributed split networks, greenfield, brownfield, and splicing/fiber counts.n1 or more years of experience with centralized split networks.n1 or more years of experience in a leadership role.nnSponsorship: No, must be US Citizen or Green Card holdernPay range: $24/hour - $32/hour (pay depends on experience and education level)nTerm of assignment: 6 Months Temp to DirectnPay method when direct: Hourly eligible for OT paynLocation of job: Kansas CitynHours and shift: Monday – Friday; flexible start time 8 hours a daynWork from home: Yes, employees will be expected to work within the office during the first 6 months or so while they are training and learning about the company.
