This position requires working in the Indianapolis office at least three days per week, with the potential for additional in-office days as needed.
 

The Marketing and Communications Specialist will help drive Kiwanis Internationals marketing initiatives to increase awareness and manage the reputation of Kiwanis International and all Kiwanis subsidiaries. This includes but may not be limited to: The Kiwanis Childrens Fund, Key Club International and Circle K International. The specialist will contribute strategy ideas and tactics in alliance with the organizations brands and will work in collaboration with other members of the Communications Team and cross-functionally.

The candidate will be involved in all aspects of communications relative to large-scale global initiatives, grassroots campaigns, event promotion, media relations, and message development. The MCS will lead convention marketing, digital and online marketing and traditional marketing and will work with vendors used for SEO, Kiwanis Google Grant program and digital marketing campaigns.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works with CMCO to develop marketing strategy, manages and implements tactics that align with the overall strategic vision of the organization and its subsidiaries. (50%)
  • Works directly with the Comms Director, CCO, and other departments, to identify the marketing needs (internal and external) and develop strategies and appropriate tactics to meet those needs. (30%)
  • Works with the social media team, provides counsel and monitors digital presence for Kiwanis family subsidiaries. (15%)
  • Other duties as assigned. (5%)

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist teams in event execution and staffing.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned, trained for, and qualified to do.


Educational requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or equivalent degree

Experiential requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years communications and/or public relations experience.
  • Experience in maintaining positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, board leadership and the public.
  • Experience working in a collaborative and cross-functional environment.
  • Proven skills in media pitching and story development and placement.
  • Project management experience.

Required skills:

  • Must have excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong media relations skills, national experience, preferred.
  • Project management and the ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Strategic and creative thinking.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Must have skill to use personal computer and various software packages, including Microsoft Office Suite products, Google products and have internet proficiency.
  • Proficiency with media database platforms (Cision, Vocus, Meltwater, etc.).
  • Social media proficiency.

  • Multilingual a plus
  • Ability to work remote and in a hybrid environment

WORKING CONDITIONS/OTHER INFORMATION:

  • Some weekend work required.
  • Domestic and international travel required.
  • Required to sit most of day in meetings or to complete workload using a desk or laptop computer.
  • Required to lead presentations or trainings for periods of time.
  • Some telephone and public speaking work required.
