What You Will Do

• Lead the end-to-end design process for major product features, from research and ideation to launch and iteration.
• Develop user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs with exceptional craft and attention to detail.
• Contribute to and evolve a robust design system, ensuring scalability and consistency across the platform.
• Incorporate user research and testing insights into your design work to validate assumptions and improve outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, scientists, and other designers to shape the future of the product.
• Participate in design critiques and mentor peers through constructive feedback.
• Explore and champion AI-powered features that can transform visualization and collaboration in science.

Ideal Candidate Background

• 7+ years of experience in product design, with at least 2+ years in-house at a SaaS or enterprise software company.
• Strong portfolio featuring 2–3 case studies that demonstrate your full design process (discovery to implementation), problem-solving, and measurable outcomes.
• Experience designing enterprise SaaS tools, collaboration products, or authoring platforms.
• Advanced Figma expertise, including design systems and component libraries.
• Exceptional visual design skills with mastery of typography, spacing, color theory, and hierarchy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven cross-functional collaboration experience.

Preferred

• Prior experience at design/visualization tool companies (e.g., Adobe, Canva, Figma, Autodesk, Miro) or enterprise SaaS (e.g., Notion, Airtable).
• Background in scientific or technical visualization.
• Experience with AI-powered feature design or use of AI in the design process.
• Startup or founding designer experience, or leadership within high-growth teams.
