Our goal is to make Shark a true devotion brand through deep category and consumer understanding and breakthrough marketing that drives brand health and profitable growth. The Marketing function is accountable for achieving a high rate of sale across products, focusing on demand creation, sell-in and sell-through, across new products and core business. This is a cross-functional role partnering with R&D, Engineering, Product, Demand Planning, Creative, Media, Sales, and regional leads.
As the Director of Marketing, you will shape the category and brand, influence product roadmap and global go-to-market strategies, and ensure a consistent voice across channels (packaging, advertising, PR, social/content, web, collateral, trade, etc.). We seek creative, fast-moving marketers who understand the product, customer and consumer demand and want to grow a global business in established and emerging markets.
Responsibilities
- Drive Portfolio Strategy: define the right portfolio strategy and ensure product definition, cost and timelines align with retailer reset windows to deliver market share and margin targets.
- Translate Insights into Action: analyze price, positioning, purchase drivers and competitive landscape; translate data into insights and recommend a comprehensive product assortment and roadmap to drive a high rate of sale.
- Go-to-Market: collaborate with Product Development, Marketing Communications, Creative and Marketing Services to develop and execute brand-building communication strategies and go-to-market plans, including messaging for packaging, PR, in-store, displays, collateral and digital channels.
- Keep the Consumer Front & Center: partner with Consumer Insights to validate strategic questions on positioning, messaging and pricing; apply insights to cross-functional decisions and stay ahead of trends to strengthen communications.
- Enable Retailer Success: communicate product value to sales, partner with Category Management to deliver compelling sell stories—category and competitive insights, consumer insights, assortment and channel strategy, pricing and promotions.
- Measure, Learn & Improve: conduct post-activity evaluation and analysis, and develop best practices across consumer touchpoints.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field, or equivalent; MBA preferred
- 8+ years of marketing experience with direct responsibility for brand strategy, messaging, positioning, and communications execution (CPG/consumer products preferred)
- Experience leveraging consumer insights to develop effective programs and campaigns
- Experience in creative and media development and execution
- Experience with new product development and commercialization
- Global marketing experience strongly preferred
Location: Needham, MA headquarters; hybrid in-office 3x per week.
