Summary of Role and Essential Functions

The Vice President (VP) of Sales and Marketing is a senior executive position that plays a crucial role in driving The Ginger People’s business growth and revenue. This key leadership role is responsible for developing and executing sales and marketing strategies that align with the company's overall objectives. The VP oversees both sales and marketing teams, ensuring a cohesive approach to achieving business goals.

This individual in this role has responsibilities that are diverse and far-reaching requiring a unique blend of strategic thinking, leadership, and technical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Goal Setting – develop comprehensive sales and marketing strategies that align with company objectives; set measurable targets for sales and marketing teams; create short-term and long-term revenue growth goals; conduct market research and competitive analyses to inform leadership on strategy adjustments; work with department leaders to create and administer sales and marketing policies, workflows, and procedures.
  • Team Leadership and Management – lead and manage high-performing sales and marketing teams; hire, train, and mentor staff; conduct performance appraisals and provide ongoing feedback; foster a positive, results-driven work environment.
  • Budget Management and Resource Allocation – create and oversee sales and marketing budgets; allocate resources across initiatives; analyze ROI for campaigns and sales efforts.
  • Market Research and Analysis – stay ahead of market trends and competitor strategies; conduct thorough market research to identify opportunities; use data to inform decision making and strategy adjustments.
  • Product and Service Development – collaborate with product teams to ensure offerings align with market demand; input on pricing strategy and product positioning; identify new market opportunities for existing and new products.
  • Relationship Building – develop and maintain relationships with interdepartmental teams, distributors, vendors, and organization partners to support business goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales and marketing roles with at least 5 years in management; proven track record of driving revenue growth, leading teams, and developing effective sales and marketing strategies
  • International sales and/or marketing experience is a plus
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution
  • Ability to motivate teams and manage several projects concurrently while meeting goals
  • Proficiency in customer relationship software and marketing automation tools
  • Experience in data analysis and interpretation
  • Understanding of digital marketing platforms and techniques, including social media, email marketing and SEO
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing teams in both sales and marketing
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, understanding, speaking, and active listening
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to engage employees and audiences
  • Leads by example, inspires teams, and makes data-driven decisions to drive revenue growth

  • Master's degree preferred

Work hours, location, and environment

  • This position is based in Marina, CA, with travel to Gilroy and other locations. Requires flexibility with scheduling.
