Public Trust GIS Analyst

Performs geographic information systems (GIS) analyses on natural resources data. Has strong knowledge and understanding of global positioning systems (GPS). Plans, designs, and develops complex documents, and analyzes spatial and relational databases. Uses complex software to manage spatial and related tabular data. Builds complex databases by capturing map information with a coordinate digitizer. Produces computer map products depicting contents of databases. Writes complex software routines to facilitate analysis. Locates sources of GIS data from government, state agencies, and private companies. Operates computer workstations, digitizers, printers, and plotters. Analyzes image data using complex image processing software. Prepares and presents complex technical research. Recommends changes in procedures when necessary. May develop department policies, guidelines, and procedures.

Requirements
  • FAA Clearance
  • Education: BS, Experience: 16+ Years, PhD 11+, MS 14+, HS 20+
  • Ability to create user applications and interfaces using various complex programming languages
  • Knowledge of geography, concepts of spatial analysis, computer programming, land management, map design, digital image processing, and coordinate geometry
