Fire Protection Designer
Location: Dallas, Texas
As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, the Fire Protection Designer will be responsible for developing fire protection designs supporting various Buildings Business Line projects. This includes planning, designing, and commissioning:
- Building fire protection systems
- Building fire suppression systems
- Building fire alarm systems
This role also involves coordination with other support disciplines and regional offices, assisting fire protection engineers, and following quality assurance and quality control plans.
Abilities and Attributes Needed:
- Knowledge of fire protection, suppression, and alarm principles
- Experience interfacing with project teams during design, delivery, and construction
- Project budget and schedule management
- Design of fire protection systems throughout project phases
- Proficiency with BIM software for drawing production
- Use of calculation tools for design calculations
- Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently
- Strong time management and quality focus
- Adherence to QA/QC plans
- Commitment to ongoing education and team development
Minimum Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience in building fire protection design and construction
- Knowledge of fire protection engineering principles
- Proven experience with detailed fire protection plans and specifications
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience with Autodesk Revit
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Preferred Skills:
- NICET certification in Fire Protection
- Experience with AIA MasterSpec
- Knowledge of federal agency design criteria
