Position Overview
  • The Contract Geospatial Data Analyst will play a critical technical role in creating, maintaining, and supporting essential geospatial datasets for Client Corporations business partners, corporate initiatives, and engineering operations. This position involves producing and managing GIS data to answer ongoing inquiries, develop new geospatial datasets, and provide flexible GIS services across the organization.
  • The analyst will conduct regular inventory analysessuch as asset counts, mileage calculations, and infrastructure measurementssupporting both operational needs and strategic initiatives. A key focus will be on preparing geospatial data for Positive Train Control (PTC) Subdivision Files and deploying data for the Enterprise GIS program.
  • This role requires a strong understanding of the Client Corporation rail network, proficiency in interpreting track geometry and field-generated data, and a working knowledge of engineering installation and maintenance practices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create, modify, and perform quality control on geospatial infrastructure data for enterprise-wide use in mission-critical applications, including PTC compliance support.
  • Convert field-generated spatial data into functional, standards-compliant digital networks for PTC systems.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks, validate data accuracy, and approve geospatial change sets submitted by CADD technicians.
  • Utilize GIS software tools to perform topology corrections, geometric modifications, and other data quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage the Geospatial Data Groups technical capabilities in support of Enterprise GIS objectives.
  • Assist the Senior Geospatial Data Analyst with a variety of GIS-related tasks and special projects.
  • Identify opportunities to maximize the value of geospatial technologies and recommend cost-saving measures through innovative GIS applications.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced expertise in GIS software applications and tools.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret, analyze, and process geospatial data.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to resolve complex data and workflow challenges.
  • Decision-Making: Capable of making informed, timely decisions with intermediate-level autonomy.
  • Project Management: Intermediate experience managing tasks, priorities, and timelines in a technical project environment.
Education & Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelors degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
