Picture Archiving And Communication System Administrator
Location: Spark Glencoe, MD or Horsham, PA (Hybrid) • Full-time
About role:
Seeking an experienced PACS Administrator with strong Infinitt PACS expertise to lead the availability, performance, security, and lifecycle management of the enterprise imaging ecosystem, including PACS, VNA, RIS/EHR integrations, imaging viewers, modalities, and related infrastructure. The role partners with Radiology, Cardiology, IT, and vendors to design resilient workflows, ensure DICOM/HL7 interoperability, and deliver reliable image acquisition, archiving, distribution, and viewing across multi-site, high-volume environments.
Must Have:
- Expert knowledge of DICOM (C-FIND/C-MOVE/C-STORE, Modality Worklist/Performed Procedure Step, SR, WADO-RS)
- Hands-on PACS administration (users/roles, hanging protocols, worklists, routing rules, prefetch, priors, lifecycle retention)
- RIS/EHR and PACS integration using HL7 v2.x (ADT/ORM/ORU) and IHE profiles (SWF, PIR, XDS-I)
- Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) concepts and image lifecycle management (tiering, compression, purge/retain)
- Imaging modality onboarding (CT/MR/US/DR/NM/CV), connectivity, QA, and acceptance testing
- Performance tuning & troubleshooting across network, storage, DB, and application layers; packet/DICOM trace analysis
- Windows Server/Active Directory administration; scripting/automation (PowerShell) for routine tasks
- SQL querying/reporting for audits, utilization, TAT, and capacity metrics
- Disaster recovery, backup/restore, and high-availability design for PACS/VNA components
- Security & compliance: HIPAA/PHI, audit trails, access reviews, encryption and secure transport
- Hands-on experience with Infinitt PACS administration, configuration, and troubleshooting in multi-site environments
Responsibilities:
- Own day-to-day PACS/VNA administration across non-prod and production environments; maintain SLAs for availability and performance
- Plan and execute PACS upgrades, patches, and migrations; lead cutovers with documented back-out plans and minimal downtime
- Onboard and validate new modalities and sites: IP/DICOM config, AE Titles, routing/priors, QA test scripts, and go-live support
- Build and maintain HL7/DICOM interfaces with RIS/EHR/analyzers; triage interface queues and resolve mapping/errors
- Implement and optimize hanging protocols, prefetch rules, and study routing to improve radiologist productivity and TAT
- Monitor capacity and growth; plan storage (SAN/NAS/object), database maintenance, and archive tiering/retention
- Develop SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge base articles; train super users and provide at-the-elbow support
- Establish proactive monitoring/alerting and lead incident/problem management with clear RCA and preventive actions
- Ensure compliance with security and privacy requirements; conduct periodic audits and access reviews
- Manage vendor relationships and support tickets; coordinate changes via CAB and follow change-control best practices
- Serve as primary administrator for Infinitt PACS platform, ensuring optimal performance, upgrades, and vendor coordination
Nice to have:
- Cloud imaging (Azure/AWS/GCP), hybrid archives, object storage (S3), CDN/edge caching
- Monitoring/observability (App Insights, Splunk, SCOM, Grafana, Prometheus) and alert tuning
- Change/Release management experience; validated systems (IQ/OQ/PQ) in regulated environments
- Knowledge of radiation dose monitoring, peer review, and analytics dashboards
Certifications:
- Infinitt PACS certification or formal training (preferred)
