Now Hiring: Part-Time Event Planner & Sponsorship Coordinator (Ravenswood, Chicago)
We’re looking for a highly motivated, creative, and organized individual to join our community rec center in Ravenswood, Chicago as a Part-Time Event Planner & Sponsorship Coordinator focused on community, family and children’s events.
This position is perfect for someone who’s ready to hustle, grow, and build a high-income role through planning meaningful neighborhood events and securing impactful sponsorships.
Role Timeline & Structure
This position kicks off with a mentorship and training phase, followed by collaborative planning and eventual event execution beginning in Spring 2026.
- Phase 1: Sponsorship & Fundraising Mentorship (First 2–3 Months)
- Learn how to head up and execute sponsorship outreach
- Make real calls and virtual pitches to local businesses and secure actual sponsorships.
- Receive hands-on mentorship in fundraising, corporate partnerships, and pitching
- Phase 2: Event Planning with the Team (Next 2 Months)
- Collaborate with staff to map out the 2026 event season
- Help organize budgets, timelines, themes, and team roles
- Begin coordinating logistics and creative concepts
- Phase 3: Event Execution (Spring 2026 & Ongoing)
- You’ll lead three types of family-friendly community events:
- Neighborhood Events (600–800 attendees) 3–6 per year; lively, themed, community celebrations
- Large-Scale Family Festivals (Up to 10,000 attendees) 2 flagship events per year drawing families from across the city
- Monthly Mini Events (50–200 attendees) Ongoing small-scale gatherings—arts & crafts, movie nights, holiday fun
Compensation
$600/week guaranteed part-time base pay
25% commission on ticket sales
25% commission on sponsorships secured
With successful execution and strong outreach, this part-time role has real six-figure earning potential for someone who treats it like their own business.
Responsibilities
- Head up all aspects of event production: planning, team coordination, vendor outreach, setup, and cleanup
- Secure event sponsors and business partnerships
- Coordinate entertainment, décor, marketing, and logistics
- Focus on child- and family-oriented themes
- Build and direct a small support team (provided)
- Ensure every event is fun, safe, clean, and memorable
Ideal Candidate
- Background in event planning, community engagement, or nonprofit fundraising
- Skilled communicator with great follow-through
- Passionate about creating experiences for families and children
- Comfortable with outreach, sales, and managing moving parts
- Highly organized and excited to build something big from the ground up
