Position Summary:
This position reports to the Corporate Director of Manufacturing and works closely with the Director and other Plant Managers to implement the strategic plan and standard operating practices for Amcor Operations. The primary focus is directing and coordinating daily operations including manufacturing operations, quality, maintenance, and inventory management in a manner which assures accuracy and efficiency and a high return on assets. This position must develop and apply good manufacturing principles and visual manufacturing, emphasizing lean manufacturing processes to minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of labor, equipment, facilities, materials and capital. It assures attainment of programs and production schedules while ensuring high quality standards and maintaining a safe working environment. Investigates and implements timely corrective action and innovative manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve product quality. Timely and accurate communication is critical to this position with daily interactions with the Director of Operations, Sales, Logistics, Technical Services, Human Resources and other managers within the corporation.
In summary: Increase productivity, improve quality, ensure safe manufacturing conditions, meet customer expectations and ensure data accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Operations in the creation and implementation of a strategic vision to increase production, quality, and labor utilization across the facility.
- Provide the necessary leadership to ensure that plant personnel and equipment are used effectively.
- Requires a high level of detail and rapid response, especially with communication of status of jobs, quality, scheduling, shipping and customer satisfaction.
- Assume plantwide responsibility for all processes, equipment, employees’ safety, and housekeeping towards meeting plant performance goals related to safety, waste, quality, and productivity.
- Create and follow documentation protocols and ensure that all operations records are properly maintained and reviewed.
- Manage all department / shift personnel by fostering a culture of employee engagement through empowerment and skill development by setting expectations, providing guidance, maintaining individual accountability, coaching, training on technical and soft skills, conducting performance appraisals, rewarding, and disciplining as appropriate while addressing complaints and resolving problems of all team members.
- Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed internal and external customers’ expectations.
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
- Recruit, train, and supervise employees.
- Review and improve products and processes.
- Create and implement organizational or departmental goals, procedures, and policies.
- Monitor operations and generate and conduct effective corrective actions.
- Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff.
- Collect and analyze data to identify waste or overtime.
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
- Establish/maintain effective working relationships with management, internal functional organizations, customers and suppliers.
- Ensure that established policies, rules, and regulations and procedures are followed.
- Maintain a positive attitude and display good work ethic by modeling appropriate behaviors.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with team members such as visual management, problem solving, 5S towards improving production quality, cost, downtime, processes, and procedures.
- Facilitate robust communications within and across shifts and with other departmental and facility resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position and the company.
Schedule
Monday-Friday, but also be flexible as needed. Must be available to work 12 shifts, but also be flexible as needed.

Education / Qualifications / Background Requirements
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of production or plant management experience in the blown or cast FILM industry. Film production troubleshooting ability is a strong plus.
- College education or equivalent experience.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of production or plant management experience.
- Strong math and analytical / problem solving skills.
- Exhibits a strong “can do” / “lead by example” attitude with willingness to learn, take on responsibilities and challenges independently and within a team.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with and provide guidance to colleagues at all levels.
- Continuous improvement knowledge and experience.
- Experience working in a fast-paced management environment and managing multiple shifts and manufacturing personnel.
- Proficiency in English; Spanish a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
