Music Therapist for Adult IDD clients in Austin

Requirements

• Board Certified Music Therapist License (MT-BC) required.
• Ability to learn on the job and learn new skills on the fly.
• Be comfortable working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• A day in the life may involve traveling to clients’ homes or day habs to provide individually tailored therapy; some groups may be used as well.

Responsibilities

• Documenting music therapy visits and contacting families and case managers to share updates.
• Treat a wide range of physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs.
• Provide detailed therapy to achieve short and long-term goals as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
• Be adaptable to the circumstance and work with staff, clients and their families, and case managers.
• Turn in paperwork with a 24 hour timeline.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient records in accordance with HIPAA, State, and Federal Regulations.
• Communicate with families and case managers about the progression of therapy.
