Music Therapist at Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital
The Music Therapist at Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital provides patient-centered music therapy to meet the biopsychosocial needs of hospitalized patients and their families. This role involves designing and implementing interventions, serving as a clinical resource, and participating in research to enhance music therapy practices. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy and Board Certification, with a preference for those with a Master's degree and additional experience in healthcare settings.
We are looking to add a Music Therapist to our team of caregivers. In this role you will collaborate with music therapists in the Ohio and Florida region and with our licensed psychologist. You will grow and develop music therapy by combining music and therapeutic relationships to address many needs of the patients.
The work schedule is 9:00am–5:00pm or 8:30am–4:30pm.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evaluate music therapy interventions to address the biopsychosocial needs of hospitalized patients and families as appropriate, under the Scope of Practice of the Certification Board for Music Therapists, and document in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Serve as a clinical and educational resource for hospital units and the professional community regarding music therapy practice.
- Adhere to general expectations for all employees to ensure the program functions effectively to meet patient treatment needs.
- Assist and participate in research as needed, including developing topics and protocols, conducting research, gathering results, and assisting with articles for submission.
- Assist the Music Therapy Department in developing and evaluating music therapy programs and initiatives.
- Coordinate music therapy observation experiences, write reports, and collaborate on other projects as needed.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or Equivalency) from a program accredited by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA).
- Music Therapist - Board Certified (MT-BC) or Board Certified eligible from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
- One year of experience providing music therapy services. Consideration will be given to time spent in practicum or internship providing music therapy services.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and musical skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Three years of experience providing music therapy services, including direct patient work in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Master's degree (or Equivalency) can be in Music Therapy from an AMTA-accredited program OR, if the candidate has a Bachelor's in Music Therapy from AMTA, then the Master's Degree can be in a related field (e.g., Counseling, Social Work, Psychology).
Physical Requirements
Standing and walking at least 75% of the time; sitting less than 25% of the time; hand and finger dexterity and reaching with arms and hands at least 75% of the time; close vision and depth perception at least 75% of the time; hearing and talking more than 80% of the time; and pushing and pulling at least 75% of the time.
