Essential Functions

Responsibilities
Providing instruction in Photography, the instructor will be responsible for:
- Teaching a part-time schedule of Photography courses as assigned;
- Using a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including technology-assisted methods for face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats;
- Communicating effectively with students, faculty and staff;
- Using effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhering to approved curriculum outlines of record;
- Evaluating student progress through tests, examinations, assignments, and other assessments aligned with course objectives;
- Providing course syllabi to students;
- Maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy;
- Timely submission of all required student grading and evaluation reports;
- Teaching assignments in various instructional settings and times, including classes as needed;
- Other duties as assigned and as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and equity-minded practice in the classroom. and
- Master’s in photography, fine arts, or art; or
- Bachelor’s in any of the above and Master’s in art history or humanities; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

Desirable Qualifications
- Experience integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities;
- Experience with racially minoritized students and understanding of historical patterns of exclusion in higher education;
- Willingness to examine and improve instructional and relational practices to engage racially minoritized students;
- Related work and professional experience;
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities;
- Ability to support underrepresented student populations and foster cross-cultural communication;
- Experience with, and sensitivity to, under-prepared and high-need students;
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success;
- Proficiency with computers and technologies used in instruction.
- Strong communication with students and staff; knowledge of current assessment methods; and knowledge of the community college mission and goals.
Salary and Benefits
- Newly hired part-time faculty will be placed on step one (1) of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Salary classifications are based on education and experience per the Part-Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
- Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
