Overview
Reporting to the AVP of Product Design and Innovation, for Business Products, you will lead and inspire a team of 5-10 professionals in product design, UX, and research. This new discipline and organization report to the CPO, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of product design. We are seeking a Principal User Experience Designer who can transform ideas into user-centered products in a collaborative environment.
Note: This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is located in the posted location(s). No relocation is offered.
Responsibilities
- Use your combination of design skills and leadership to design (and redesign) a diverse set of experiences and products for AT&T.
- Serve as the creative point-of-contact and project lead for UX design projects, collaborating with teammates and internal sponsors to guide activities, strategy, and timelines.
- Convey the vision, flow, and features of the product through storytelling, UX work, and prototypes.
- Collaborate with fellow UX designers, researchers, and other internal teams to generate ideas and solicit feedback on designs.
- Work with developers, project managers, and other teams to implement designs into production.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Lead, organize, and facilitate design workshops with clients and partners when needed.
- Mentor junior and senior UX designers on the team.
Required Experience & Characteristics
- 7+ years of interaction/graphic design experience across a variety of digital media (or equivalent).
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or an equivalent degree preferred.
- Strong portfolio of design and UX work with a track record of leading substantial design projects.
- Comfortable in an executive-facing role.
- Experience in concept ideation, design strategy, and digital prototyping. Proficiency with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, Principle, Framer, etc., with a drive to learn new tools.
- Knowledge or expertise in one or more of the following is a plus: visual design, machine learning, mobile/web applications, messaging interfaces, illustration, video/film production.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative drive; proactive leadership and teamwork to improve designs.
- Systems thinker with a product mindset; ability to create holistic, user-centered products.
- Empathetic, user-centered, and fun to work with; strong storytelling and communication skills.
- Leadership, communication, project management, and organizational skills to articulate work to partners and teams.
Locations
This position is located in Dallas, Seattle, or Austin. There is no relocation assistance provided. Attach or include a link to your design portfolio or work samples (with any required passwords) for review. Candidates without a portfolio or work samples will not be considered.
Compensation & Benefits
Principal UX Designer/Architect earns between $158,200 - $237,400. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
