Job Description
The New York Post Media Group is seeking a dynamic Data Analyst to join our innovative Data Science and Analytics Department. This role is perfect for a data professional who is passionate about media and wants to shape the future of content and news through data-driven insights. You will work directly with our editorial team and editorial staff to analyze reader behavior, content performance, and market trends, translating complex data into actionable recommendations that guide our daily editorial decisions and long-term strategic direction.

Responsibilities
- Editorial Analytics & Content Strategy: Analyze website traffic, reader engagement, and content performance metrics to identify trending topics and reader preferences.
- Editorial Analytics & Content Strategy: Track article performance across different platforms (website, social media, newsletters) and provide insights on optimal publishing strategies.
- Editorial Analytics & Content Strategy: Monitor competitor content and market trends to identify coverage opportunities and content gaps.
- Editorial Analytics & Content Strategy: Assist the Data Science team in developing predictive models to forecast article performance and reader interest in emerging topics.
- Editorial Analytics & Content Strategy: Create self-serve dashboards for editorial staff to track story performance and audience engagement.
- Audience Development & Engagement: Guide the activation of segmentation and analyze reader behavior patterns, and subscription conversion metrics.
- Audience Development & Engagement: Identify opportunities to grow and retain readership through data-driven content recommendations.
- Audience Development & Engagement: Analyze social media engagement and viral content patterns to optimize distribution strategies.
- Audience Development & Engagement: Track subscriber acquisition, retention, and churn rates to inform content and marketing strategies.
- Audience Development & Engagement: Develop A/B testing frameworks for headlines, article formats, and publishing schedules.
- Business Intelligence & Revenue Analytics: Analyze subscription patterns, advertising performance, and revenue metrics.
- Business Intelligence & Revenue Analytics: Track the effectiveness of paywall strategies and membership conversion rates.
- Business Intelligence & Revenue Analytics: Monitor email newsletter performance and reader engagement across different content formats.
- Business Intelligence & Revenue Analytics: Provide insights on content monetization opportunities and reader willingness to pay.
- Business Intelligence & Revenue Analytics: Support business development with market analysis and competitive intelligence.
Required Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science or related field.
- Education & Experience: 2+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in media, publishing, or digital media.
- Education & Experience: Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Education & Experience: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with editorial and content teams.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in SQL and Statistical analysis.
- Technical Skills: Expert-level skills in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
- Technical Skills: Strong programming skills in Python.
- Technical Skills: Experience with web analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics).
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Cloud Computing Environments like AWS, GCP, Azure.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of A/B testing methodologies and statistical significance.
- Communication & Editorial Skills: Exceptional ability to translate complex data findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Communication & Editorial Skills: Strong presentation skills with experience presenting to senior leadership and editorial teams.
- Communication & Editorial Skills: Understanding of digital media and content creation / publishing workflows.
- Communication & Editorial Skills: Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to breaking news situations.
- Communication & Editorial Skills: Experience facilitating data-driven discussions and guiding strategic decision-making.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in media, journalism, or publishing industry.
- Preferred Qualifications: Background in digital marketing or audience development.
- Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of subscription business models and reader revenue strategies.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with machine learning techniques for content recommendation systems.
- Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with email marketing platforms and newsletter analytics.
- Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of SEO principles and search trend analysis.

Pay Range: $75,000 - $90,000
