Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for a Buyer at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for executing the procurement of goods and services in the shipyard, directly supporting manufacturing operations for the construction of vessels. The Buyer would be the primary contact with suppliers and internal customers in the areas of supplier performance, disposition of hardware, flow of material to yard, RFQ requests, and purchase order placement. This role involves prompt communication of any material shortages or non-conformances, spearheading solutions to mitigate disruption to the production schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for tactical goals, metrics, and reports. Participate in weekly meetings with Manufacturing, Engineering Purchasing, Commodity, and Sub-Contract Leads. Provide timely communication of production shortages affecting production schedule to the Commodity Manager, Yard, and Purchasing Manager. Analyze and interpret industry conditions which could influence design, lead time and cost. Enter data into the ERP system and maintaining data integrity to provide accurate information to all dependent departments. Prepare and analyze quotes for opportunities to develop cost savings plans. External Communication:
Suppliers -- Material ordering and receiving discrepancies, expediting with delivery status of materials and software deliverables, RFQ's, and supplier performance. Freight Forwarders -- Customs services, imports/exports, bonds, duty. Customer -- Advise on in-plant test dates and material disposition.
Internal Communication:
Key stakeholders involved in obtaining approval signatures, technical assistance of material specifications, contractual advice with terms and conditions. Key stakeholders with invoice reconciliation; parts and schedule information; and clarifying provisioning and technical manual submittals. Warehouse/Manufacturing -- Receiving/inventory discrepancies, procurement inspection reports, order quantities, packaging requirements, material ordering, expediting, and production shortages.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in a business, or technical related field and at least 2 years' experience in a buying or purchasing role; or in Supply Chain Management and at least 1 completed internship. This can also be met with an Associate's degree in business, supply chain, or technical related field and at least 3 years' experience in a buying or purchasing role. This can also be met with a HS Diploma and at least 5 years' experience in a buying or purchasing role. Experience as a Buyer for a shipyard, production, or manufacturing environment preferred. SKILLS:
Proactive with taking on new challenges and skills to support team objectives. Ability to manage a high-volume workload with rapid turnaround times. Ability to foster and grow productive working relationships. Experience with SAP-MRP/ERP, Earned Value Management, and ISO preferred. Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills, particularly in Excel. Must have strong organizational and time management skills. Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
