to its dynamic team! As our Telecommunications Officer, under direct supervision of the Telecommunications Supervisor, you will receive and dispatch requests for police, fire, ambulance, and animal control emergency and non-emergency services. Pay Plan

This opportunity is exempt and budgeted on Pay Grade #28. The pay plan range below is shown to represent opportunities for growth and development within this opportunity. We are seeking to hire between the Min to Mid-range of the pay grade shown dependent upon qualifications.

WORK PERFORMED

Operates a multi-line communication system Answer phones and directs callers to the appropriate city employee Monitors and broadcasts on communication radio equipment Dispatches police, fire and emergency medical units and animal control as well as other city departments, such as public works and parks and recreation, as needed Operates various telecommunication, multi-channel radio equipment, and Enhanced 911 system Assigns police, fire, and ambulance support elements to routine/emergency calls for service Records all activities and locations of police units and animal control units Uses computer terminals to make entries and inquiries and interprets the responses from various automated databases Provides Emergency Medical Pre & Post Arrival Instructions Retrieves Driver's License and Vehicle Registration data from computer system Checks for outstanding warrants, stolen vehicles and articles Enters and clears warrants and stolen articles from department to TCIC/NCIC computer Operates video recording, closed circuit television, and tape logging equipment Communicates with the hearing and speech impaired by a teletype system Screens and forwards telephone calls for the police, fire department, and animal control departments Is aware of and able to review the city's crime analysis software, such as RaidsOn Line and review crime trends as indicated with their respective shifts regularly Able to operate the city-wide locking control system, setting opening and closings according to scheduled events Develops own knowledge, skills and abilities to enhance and ensure continued success and meets all mandated training requirements as specified by TCOLE for the maintenance of a licensed telecommunicator Operates computers, telephones, radios, recorders, and other technical equipment Adheres to personnel safety, departmental policies and procedures, and Administrative Orders Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Graduate or General Education Diploma (GED) Licensed Telecommunicator or able to obtain license within specified period designated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Valid Texas Class C Driver's License - driving record must be in compliance with City policy Supplemental Information

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years of municipal Police, Fire, and 911 enhanced dispatching experience Current Telecommunications License as issued by TCOLE Certified Emergency Medical Dispatch

2024-2025 Full Time Employee Benefits Summary

Retirement benefits provided through the Texas Municipal Retirement System. Mandatory contributions via payroll deduction - employee contributes 7% and the City matches 2 - 1. Term Life Insurance plan of 1x salary (upto $100,000) paid for by the City of Murphy. Supplemental coverage is available for purchase by the employee. Medical/Dental/Vision insurance. City has 2 medical plans (HDHP and PPO) and the city pays upto 100% of the premium for employees and provides upto 50% premium contribution for qualified dependents. Medical plan is with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Dental plan is with Ameritas, and Vision plan is with VSP. Benefits are deducted pre-tax, see table below for rates. Telemedicine (including a behavioral health component) and Pet telemedicine fully funded by the City of Murphy Health Spending Account, Flexible Spending Account, Limited Flexible Spending Account, and Dependent Care Accounts available for employee contribution. City matches up to $900/year to your Dependent Care FSA for Childcare Assistance. For HDHP medical plan, the City contributes upto $1,800 annually pro-rate bi-weekly. Long-term disability insurance paid by the City of Murphy. Identity Protection plan available through My ID Care. Ancillary insurance policies (accident, cancer, STD, hospital, etc.) available through Aflac. Longevity pay: All full-time employees receive $4.00 per month for each year of service beginning the month following the first full year of service. Employee Assistance Program provided free to employees and family members. Vacation: Three weeks (15 days) annually through the first five years, four weeks (20 days) annually from 5 years to 10 years, and first weeks (25 days) annually for 10 years of service and beyond. Time accrues incrementally each pay period. Sick time: Three weeks (15 days) annually - accrued incrementally each pay period. 14 paid holidays per year. Deferred Compensation Plan (457) offered by Mission Square. Optional and fully funded by the employee. Participation in the Wellness Program acitivities offers $20 per month incentive towards PPO premium or HDHP HSA account. Vacation buy-back: After 5 years of service, the city will buy upto 40 hours annually of your unused vacation time. Education/Certification assistance upto $2,000 per fiscal year. Employees are paid bi-weekly (26 times per year), but insurance premiums are deducted only 24 times per year.
