Overview UI/UX Designer, Senior Associate to contribute to athenahealth’s award-winning electronic health record and physician practice management products. Join a multi-disciplinary agile R&D team to define, design, and test product features with the goal of easing the burden on humans in healthcare. You will join the Medication Management zone, responsible for the system that sends over 17 million prescription messages per month, provides information to clinicians about patients’ medications, and enables vaccine administration. You will reimagine and optimize capabilities our users identify as essential to their work. Role Location: Boston, MA. Candidates in office 2-3 days a week as needed. Responsibilities 80% - Design execution (primary) Identify and frame user-centered problems effectively Plan and facilitate problem identification and solutioning workshops Create low- to high-fidelity mocks, wireframes, content, and visual designs, and build interactive prototypes to communicate and test concepts and ideas Plan and execute research experiments and heuristic reviews to evaluate usefulness and usability Collaborate with product and engineering teams throughout the agile planning, design, and development process Collaborate with your team, soliciting and providing feedback to ensure UX quality standards for workflow, interaction design, and microcopy 20% - Design strategy and planning Plan and execute exploratory research and experiments including conceptual prototypes to inform product strategy Contribute to workflows, journey maps, and vision documents to influence backlog prioritization and planning Summarize and communicate user research insights and implications for design Manage the backlog and prioritization of design work Assist in defining success criteria and metrics Support teammates in building deep empathy for users Education, Experience, & Skills Required Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Design, HCI, Cognitive Psychology, Computer Science, Business, or related disciplines 3-5 years of professional experience in product design Solid capability in UX design techniques Experience facilitating and acting on takeaways from user research in field studies and evaluative testing Understanding of agile development processes for design, development, and delivery of software Strong verbal and written communication skills Behaviors & Abilities Required Design simple, effective, and elegant interactions between users and products Create strong problem statements and metrics to ensure outcomes Forge strong collaborative relationships within a multi-disciplinary team Provide rationale for recommendations to gain support and influence decisions Capable of managing ambiguity and change, making timely decisions to keep work moving Adapt to changing needs with flexibility to support the team About athenahealth Our vision: In an industry that becomes more complex, we stand for simplicity.
