Overview

We are looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant to support the global accounting operations & revenue close processes for Spotify’s advertising business. This role partners with the Revenue Accounting team to develop and implement scalable processes that protect the accuracy and completeness of the financial statements. Adaptability to changing business priorities and understanding how pieces fit into the big picture are crucial.

The ideal candidate is detail oriented, a motivated self-starter, and thrives in a dynamic environment. This role is based in New York City, NY and requires you to be within commutable distance to the office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform global revenue close procedures on-time and in accordance with IFRS, including revenue and deferred revenue journal entries, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses.
  • Help lead the implementation of best practices in the revenue team to scale the business and support global revenue expansion.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to automate operational processes for long-term scalability of new revenue streams.
  • Develop and refine revenue accounting processes for new revenue streams.
  • Prepare support for external and internal audit requirements related to areas of responsibility.
  • Work cross-functionally with Technical Accounting, Finance, Legal, Sales, Sales Operations, FP&A, Accounts Receivable, IT, Tax, Financial Engineering, and business owners to drive scalable Revenue Accounting processes and system initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and continuously improve revenue accounting processes and procedures.
  • Support company acquisitions by assisting with revenue operations integrations for acquired entities.
  • Assess risk and test functionality of accounting system releases as they relate to changes in reporting.
  • Organize and review the work of offshore consultants and manage their contributions’ efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in special projects, lead training, ERP implementations, system enhancements, and ad hoc analyses as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA or CA preferred.
  • 5+ years of revenue accounting, accounting operations, GL, or public accounting experience.
  • Experience in Digital Advertising, High tech, Podcasting, Entertainment/Media, and/or Big 4 is preferred.
  • SOX/ITGC experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with major ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP).
  • Experience with SQL and BigQuery is a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to work with very large data volumes.
  • Ability to work under time pressure, prioritize workload, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and flexibility, especially during month/quarter/year-end closing.
  • Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Where You'll Be

  • This role is based in New York, NY.
  • Hybrid work arrangement with 2-3 days in the office per week; occasional in-person meetings as needed.
  • Working hours align with the EST time zone.

Compensation and Benefits

The United States base range for this position is $83,903.00 - $119,861.00 plus equity. Benefits include health insurance, parental leave, 401(k), paid time off, paid holidays, and paid sick leave. Placement in a level depends on relevant work history and interview performance.
