NewsNation is currently seeking a full-time Audio Operator (A1) for our national newscasts, based in our Washington, DC bureau.
Overview
- Position: Audio Operator (A1) – Washington, DC
- Employment type: Part-time, non-union staff position
- Compensation Range: $42–$48/hourly

Responsibilities
- Listen to the director’s commands and react swiftly and accurately to mix a clean show during live and pre-recorded programming.
- Route good mix-minus to remotes, set up RF microphones and IFBs.
- Add creativity and ideas that enhance the final product.
- Be a problem solver and quick thinker to resolve issues and work around problems that arise during live news broadcasts.
- Communicate and document effectively and concisely with the rest of the team.
- Work across all day parts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) with overtime as situations demand.
Qualifications
- Five plus (5+) years’ experience in professional live television broadcast operations required
- Previous live show audio mixing experience required
- Experience with Yamaha, Wheatstone and Calrec audio boards required
- Proficiency in operation of AZ Edit and Dante
- Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment and multitask
- Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred
