Overview
PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Social Media Content Creator at our Tysons, Virginia location. The Social Media Content Creator is responsible for developing engaging, on-brand content that drives awareness, builds community, and grows our presence across digital platforms. This role focuses on content creation - short-form video, photography, graphics, and storytelling tailored to each platform. The ideal candidate is highly creative, comfortable in front of and behind the camera, and stays ahead of social media trends.

- Create compelling content (short-form videos, photos, graphics, stories, reels, etc.) for use across social media platforms.
- Collaborate with the social media and marketing teams to align content with campaigns, launches, and brand goals.
- Ideate, storyboard, film, edit, and publish original content that resonates with target audiences.
- Stay current with emerging social trends, sounds, formats, and platform features to keep content fresh and relevant.
- Ensure all content reflects the brand’s voice, tone, and visual identity.
- Support live content creation and event coverage.
- Monitor engagement and provide feedback to optimize future content.
- This role is responsible for ensuring business continuity.
Qualifications
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
- Bachelor's Degree required in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Digital Media, Photography/Videography, Journalism, or related field is required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience creating content for social media platforms in a professional or agency setting.
- Demonstrated experience producing engaging multimedia content (photo, video, graphics, copy) tailored for different platforms.
- Experience with professional photography and videography equipment preferred.
- Proficiency in design and editing tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, CapCut, Lightroom, Photoshop, After Effects).
- Strong photography and videography skills, including shooting and editing short-form video (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts).
- Understanding of social media algorithms, trends, and audience behaviors across platforms.
- Ability to brainstorm and pitch creative content ideas aligned with brand strategy.
- Strong copywriting and storytelling abilities, with the ability to adapt to different audiences.
- Knowledge of SEO and how it applies to social media content.
- Familiarity with scheduling and analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Later, Meta Business Suite).
- Experience with community engagement and influencer collaborations.
- Basic knowledge of paid social media advertising and boosting content.
- Portfolio or examples of previous social media content creation required.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will not supervise employees.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise. Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.
Travel
Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
