Base pay range

$75,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr

The California Post will be a game changer, putting the people of the Golden State first and holding the powerful to account across digital platforms and print.

This is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: The California Post will bring The New York Post’s DNA of powerful, agenda-setting journalism to the West Coast and be a fresh and fearless voice for common sense.

Our focus will also go well beyond hard-hitting news and iconoclastic opinion. The nationally recognized Page Six will bring its sassy and brassy attitude directly to the entertainment capital of the world. The California Post Sports department will deliver muscular coverage of the biggest teams in town, from the locker room to the front office. Our Tech team will reveal the latest innovators and innovations that will shape the nation’s future.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily posting and scheduling for California Post social media accounts, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the day’s top stories
  • Write, edit, and tailor posts to maximize engagement and reach across platforms
  • Monitor real-time analytics and use performance insights to inform publishing decisions
  • Stay on top of social and cultural trends, adapting content strategies to drive growth
  • Pitch creative ideas for social-first projects that expand reach and showcase the Post’s journalism in innovative ways
  • Collaborate with editorial teams to align coverage and promote content effectively across platforms
  • Engage with audiences where appropriate and help set best practices for community interactions

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience managing social media for a news organization
  • Proven expertise with all major social media platforms, scheduling tools, and analytics dashboards
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to quickly assess what will perform well with audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling, platform-specific content in a fast-paced newsroom environment
  • Deep understanding of SEO and social search optimization strategies
  • Proficiency in video and photo editing software, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, and Canva, with a portfolio demonstrating high-quality editing and creative execution
  • Creative, resourceful, and proactive with a track record of growing engagement and reach
  • A strong social media presence or following is preferred.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable as news demands shift, including availability to work evenings, weekends, and during breaking news events when needed

Note: The New York Post Media Group adheres to a hybrid work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 4 days per week (subject to change depending on business needs).
