Job Summary
The Trend Specialist is responsible for researching, identifying, and forecasting emerging fashion trends to guide seasonal collections and product development. This role bridges market insights, consumer behavior, and creative direction, providing actionable trend analysis that inspires design teams and supports brand positioning in a competitive retail landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Trend Research & Forecasting
- Monitor global fashion trends, street style, cultural movements, social media, and industry trade shows to identify emerging themes, colors, materials, and silhouettes.
- Analyze market data, consumer behavior, and competitor activities to predict upcoming trends relevant to the brand’s target audience.
- Develop seasonal trend reports, mood boards, and color palettes to present to design, merchandising, and marketing teams.
- Partner with designers, product developers, and merchandisers to translate trend insights into actionable product direction.
- Work closely with marketing and creative teams to ensure brand storytelling aligns with trend forecasts.
- Present findings in internal trend meetings, seasonal kick-offs, and leadership reviews.
- Track and evaluate retail assortments, sales performance, and consumer feedback to refine future trend strategies.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape within the apparel market.
- Travel to key markets, fashion weeks, and trade shows to gather inspiration and source innovative fabrics, trims, and techniques.
- Curate inspiration from art, music, culture, and technology to spark creative concepts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Merchandising, Textile Design, Marketing, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in trend forecasting, fashion design, or merchandising (apparel experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of global fashion markets, retail landscapes, and consumer trends.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and presentation tools (PowerPoint/Keynote).
- Excellent visual storytelling and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into creative strategies.
- Strong eye for color, fabric, and silhouette.
- Creative thinker with a proactive, trend-forward approach.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to balance creativity with commercial viability.
