Department Summary

The College of Music Marketing Office is seeking a part-time photographer with a passion for visual storytelling to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to capture the energy, artistry and people of the largest public university music program in the United States. The selected candidate will photograph performances, rehearsals, promotional sessions, and portraits that will be used across digital, print and social media platforms to promote the College’s programs, events and achievements.

Position Overview

This position will work closely with the College of Music marketing team, often in fast-paced, live-event environments as well as in planned studio or on-location shoots. We are looking for a self-motivated creative who can plan and execute assignments independently, communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and students, and consistently produce high-quality visual content that reflects the College of Music’s brand and artistic standards while adhering to UNT University Brand Strategy and Communications guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

Proficiency in photography editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom CC, and Premiere Pro

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Understanding of DSLR or mirrorless camera operation and lighting
Familiarity with Google Drive and SmugMug for file organization and delivery
Ability to work efficiently in live-event environments and adapt to changing conditions
Attention to detail, strong time management, and organizational skills
Ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs. of equipment

Job Duties

  • Through project assignments, photograph College of Music events, performances, rehearsals, faculty and student portraits, and other promotional sessions as assigned.
  • Capture images for advertising, publications, social media, and archival purposes.
  • Cull images from each shoot to remove duplicates, test shots, and unusable photographs, delivering a curated selection of the best captures before delivery.
  • Process, deliver, and archive images with a quick turnaround time while maintaining consistent quality.

Physical Requirements

  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Work Schedule

Flexible scheduling based on assignments. Each photography assignment will be compensated at a minimum of 2 hours to include time for editing, archiving and file organization.
