Overview
CNBC News Operations Manager role at CNBC. NBCUniversal is a leading media and entertainment company with brands including NBC, NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, NBC Sports, Telemundo, NBC Local Stations, Bravo, USA Network, and Peacock. The spin-off Versant is planned for 2025. This position supports CNBC in delivering world‑class journalism by optimizing editorial and production workflows.
Role involves being a regular presence in the newsroom, control room, and on the field. The ideal candidate will understand editorial and production processes, be passionate about optimizing workflows, and contribute to the overall success of CNBC.
Responsibilities
- Own relationships with editorial stakeholders to understand workflow needs and provide operational support to the editorial mission of CNBC.
- Lead analysts in documenting current workflows, identifying standardization opportunities, and conducting analysis to measure performance and identify optimization opportunities.
- Proactively research, evaluate, and recommend innovative technology solutions to address needs and future‑proof workflows.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (product, development, engineering) to integrate technology into editorial workflows.
- Provide ongoing support to ensure successful implementation and adoption of process improvements.
- Develop training materials, lead trainings, and guide stakeholders on new and updated workflows and technology.
- Establish and implement quality assurance to ensure adherence to standardized workflows.
- Ensure editorial teams receive consistent support across platforms and time zones.
- Be ready to work odd hours (nights, early mornings, holidays) as news events demand.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Fluency in at least one area of journalism: TV, digital video, or modern print.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate complex processes.
- Proficiency in process mapping and flowcharting to visualize workflows.
- Familiarity with workflow management tools (e.g., Visio, Figma, Lucidchart).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strategic mindset and ability to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
Additional Information
- This position is hybrid, generally requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
- Eligible for company benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and other perks). Salary: $110,000 – $135,000 (bonus eligible).
