Overview
The Houston Rockets are seeking a passionate and talented Video Producer to work in a fast-paced and creative production environment. Our department is responsible for creating original content, features, commercials, and delivering via streaming services, apps, and social media platforms for the Houston Rockets, our partners, and Landry’s as needed. This role will work closely with Directors, Managers and the video production team to establish engaging Rockets team long-form content.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate our One Team philosophy of Passion, Accountability, Customer Focus, and Teamwork.
- Collaborate with marketing and production teams to build compelling video content for Rockets fans and our partners.
- Content Creation: Produce high-quality video content covering game highlights, player profiles, team history, and current storylines.
- Have a high-level understanding of ideation, storyboards, and pitching ideas that are within budget, on time, and on brand.
- Storytelling: Develop compelling narratives and storylines that captivate our audience and provide insight into the team’s journey, both on and off the court.
- Concept original ideas, work with existing footage, and create highly produced pieces; plan one 30-minute documentary, one monthly all-access docuseries in-season (8 ep. at 8-12 min per), one bi-weekly podcast series in-season (~20 ep. at 15-20 min per), and an off-season episodic TBD.
- Research: Stay up to date with the latest news, trends, and developments surrounding the Houston Rockets and the NBA, including past achievements, key moments, and current roster dynamics.
- Editing: Edit and enhance video footage using industry-standard software, adding graphics, music, and other elements to elevate final quality. Include color correction, audio mastering, and codec handling.
- Build/log/maintain digital video library.
- Shooting: Plan and execute video shoots that support long-form content including interviews and high production value b-roll.
- Feedback & Improvement: Solicit feedback from stakeholders and audience members to refine and improve content and storytelling.
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with major coursework in film/broadcast/communications or equal experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of producing experience for a sports team or post house.
- Proficiency in video editing software – Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Live production/control experience a plus.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments under pressure.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive department.
- Ability to assist in shooting a plus.
- Some travel may be required.
Physical & Mental Requirements
- The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands, reach, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
- The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
- The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs.
- The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed in light of the focus on external communications and relationships.
